Hi world. How are you. It's been a while.
So, as you all can see, I haven't updated the blog in a little while, well that is fun because lots has gone on in the past couple weeks.
Namely, this past weekend was homecoming at Wagner, and I turned 21. These two events coincided perfectly.
I suppose the homecoming festivities at Wagner began Friday night, with the "Pep" Rally. Unfortunately, I have rarely been in a room that was billed to have pep that had less of it. I attended with a theater department friend, Tim, and we were excited to say the least. I have never been to a Wagner Pep Rally, and my expectations were high.
The free t-shirts (shout out to Curtis in Co-Curricular) were very cool this year, sporting the new athletics Seahawk logo, and the energy in the room was high. The Greek organizations were all a-buzz with anticipation, because they all made banners that were being judged for trophies that they could put in their lounges, which for them is a big thing.
The rally started with the Wagner College Choir doing an arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner that my choir used to do in High School, and I had a particular affinity for. We were off to the races.
It was great.
Then Mr. Curtis Wright introduced our football team, and with the cheerleaders and nationally ranked dance team flanking either side of the gym, we prepared for our ferocious, football Seahawks to storm the gym and bring us all hope for the next days battle.
And in they came.
Walking.
Nay, mosying. In fact, I have never in my life seen such a lack-luster display from any athletic team on the eve of their coming home. The energy in the room plummeted.
From there it was all downhill.
Vocal Synergy, our campus all female a cappela group, performed, but wasn't given adequate amplification and so were lost to the size of the venue.
The cheerleaders and nationally ranked dance team did an impressive routine, and that was the highlight of the rally.
The homecoming court was introduced by two girls who had difficulty reading their cue cards, although everyone looked very nice all dressed up, and a toddler relative of Molly Dennis' showed some real enthusiasm by screaming at the top of her lungs, which was adorable.
Then they announced the winners. AOPI won. ADPI should have. That's all I will say.
The next day was the homecoming game, as well as my birthday.
30 drinks later, I got into bed at 5:15 sunday morning.
I watched the homecoming game/halftime show along with Allen, Diez, and some other friends of the show. The game was great. Props to Prince Young on a great game, and also to Adam Farnsworth for leading our guys to victory.
But more importantly, West Lot. The Tailgating. Kiddie pools being used as coolers for more beer than any small country could consume in a lifetime. More beer pong tables than I have ever seen. Needless to say, we started our drinking adventure at 11am. After the game, we ran into birthday shenanigans, my brother, Dobles came out and took me to dinner, and then the show all went out to a bar on the island from 11-2. Field reporter Chris set up a tab for me. I over-ordered on whiskey, and picked up drinks for cute girls. Well, mostly just one cute girl, but regardless, it gave me a sense of power. At about one o'clock, a former boss of mine arrived. He had the brilliant idea to go to the city. And what is the appropriate response when you have been drinking all day?
Ok, let's go.
We got to the city, rolled into cabs, got to the lower east side for last call at McSorleys and Grassroots, threw up out the window of a cab, lost an iphone on the back seat of a cab, got mcdonalds, and made it back to staten island by 5am.
You only turn 21 once.
